Choosing your Narmadeshwar Shivling
Narmadeshwar Shivlings are made from stones of the holy Narmada. In Bakawan, a village on the river famous for this craft, artisan families shape and polish each stone by hand into a smooth egg-like form. Colours range from light cream to deep brown, often with natural markings that devotees see as a tilak, a crescent or Om, so no two are alike.
For a home mandir, 2 to 4 inches is the most popular size. It sits comfortably in a jalhari and is easy to bathe during daily abhishek. Puja rooms and temples usually choose 6 inches or larger, and 1 to 2 inches suits a car, office desk or travel altar.
Narmadeshwar Shivlings are regarded as swayambhu (self-manifested), so they are traditionally worshipped without prana-pratishtha. For pieces of 3 inches and above, we send a photo of your exact Shivling on WhatsApp before dispatch.
Questions
Narmadeshwar Shivlings: FAQs
How can I tell an original Narmadeshwar Shivling?
An original Narmadeshwar Shivling is genuine Narmada stone. It feels cool and heavy for its size, and its markings are mineral veins inside the stone, not paint on the surface, so a damp white cloth picks up no colour. Fakes are often resin, cement or dyed stone. We share photos of your exact piece before dispatch.
Which size Narmadeshwar Shivling is best for home?
2 to 4 inches is ideal for most home altars. It fits a standard jalhari and is easy to handle during daily abhishek. Choose 6 inches or more for a dedicated puja room.
What is the price of a Narmadeshwar Shivling?
The price depends on the size, weight and natural markings of each stone. Tap "Get Price on WhatsApp" on any Shivling and we will send today's price for your chosen size, along with a photo of the piece.
